If you’re a mom, you know that pregnancy brain and mommy brain are real. If you’re not a mom, please know to give your mommy friends some extra grace if they forget things. I now have three little girls, the youngest of which was born in July. The mommy brain haze is very much my current reality. I forget people’s names that I know I know, I’m not always very coherent in my thoughts, and Bible verses I once had committed to memory I now butcher. I find myself forgetting all sorts of things that I had once known.
Despised Things Made Loved
“Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him.” (1 Corinthians 1:27-29 NIV) When I read through these verses a couple weeks ago, one phrase resonated with me: despised things. “Despised things” in this verse refers to the things this world despises but God uses for His glory.
Loving others more, when we love them less than Jesus
“You’re not my world” “You don’t complete me” “You’re not my everything” “I can live without you”
Am I Loving People Well
Galatians 6:10 says,“Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.” The Lord has convicted me lately that I haven’t been loving the ladies in my church well.
What happens if I radically love everyone?
If you have not read my bio yet, then you probably don’t know much about me. That’s okay, but what you do need to know for this post is that I am a 23-year-old woman working with teenage refugee boys at Bethany Christian Services. I’d like to share with you what I have learned about humility, serving, and more specifically humbly serving the undeserving.
See No Evil
When I read the passage of Luke 11:33-36, I think of the scene in FireProof when Kirk Cameron rips his computer from the socket, beats it with a bat and throws it in the dumpster which causes his shocked neighbor standing outside to absently water his concrete instead of the flowerbed. This scene reflects Kirk Cameron’s character’s struggle with sin and his desire to sever the sin and repair the broken relationship he has with his wife.
Identity Theft
What does it mean to be a woman? Depending on who you ask, this question can have a multitude of answers. Ask a Christian? They’ll probably direct you to Proverbs 31. And, yeah ok, they’re not wrong. But they’re not exactly 100% right either. I can tell you why with two simple questions. Single ladies, how does that answer make you feel? What about you, childless wives?
Disney’s Got Romance All Wrong
Let’s face it, Disney is all about the romance and the magic. I mean, seriously, they’ve built an empire on princesses for goodness sake. Ever since I was a little girl, I have dreamt of the day when I would be rescued by a knight in shining armor and finally get to have the perfect fairytale wedding and live happily ever after. I think a lot of little girls have that fantasy. We search for a prince to fulfill a longing given to us since our fall in the Garden of Eden.

Let’s Talk About Sex, Baby
Alright, married ladies, I’m talking to you today. I’m going to start off with a contentious statement that I’m sure will ruffle not just a few feathers: we do not have enough sex with our husbands.
